T
he 4th Dimension

From the perspective of the atoms and molecules in an apple, there is no implicit 'knowledge' of what they are a part of. Their relationship to other molecules, other forces, or a wider environment.

The molecules of the apple are seen as being parts of a wider 3d form, only when joined together by some 'entity' operating to combine the parts into a whole; and then into a 'perception' of a whole.

If the atoms were represented by memory locations, and the relationships between memory locations were under the control of a computation. One reflecting the actual forces etc. between atoms. The information might be considered to represent the form, but it would not be sufficient to represent the 'perception' of the form.

To perceive the form, you need a system. An environment or framework with an observer. And you need a vocabulary of 'components' that can disclose time and form relative to the observer, the environment and to other forms.

The human mind and body appears to combine the necessary features. Patterns of information to the muscles encode time. Patterns from the sense of touch encode the collisions between surfaces of form. Combined, they provide a framework out of which a vocabulary of 2d patterns can encode 3d space and time from an observer perspective.

When you stretch our your hand, you are converting the 2d patterns of information to the muscles into 'events' through time within 3 dimensional space. Because you could have moved the same hand in a multitude of different ways, those 'options' prior to the collapse into action, represented a kind of inner 4th dimensional space.

Our human senses allow 2d patterns of information to stream into our minds. We appear to use these patterns to build a simulation of 3D reality. But it seems to go further than that. Further than just 3D. Since we can 'see' the 3D simulation, we must already be a step outside of it. To be an observer.

In a nutshell, this is what I'm saying. A synthetic 4th dimensional platform within the subconsciousness, creates a 3 dimensional reality simulation we can observe (conscious). Out of the 2 dimensional pattern flows from the muscles and senses - being the source programming material.

The 4th dimensional organization of the subconscious, is the 'observer side' of awareness. The collapsed 3d simulation of reality - the 'observed side', is the conscious side for awareness.

The brain seems to be a pattern assembling machine, it discovers higher level (higher dimensional) causes from within lower level patterns, and fixes these discoveries into memory to become future 4th dimensional components of awareness.

Subsequent sensory flows seem to be able to identify and assemble these core 4th dimensional components, and to collapse them (polarize them) into the unique perspective for a conscious 3d experience. One simultaneously aligned to the observer point of the senses within reality, and to their 4th dimensional source components. Giving the potential for expansion of the 3d simulation into time and space.

Consider that a point is a section of a line and a line a section of a plane and a plane a section of 3d space. So by analogy, 3d space is a section of 4d 'space'. Now in the multiverse theory of reality, or even quantum mechanics, physical space is collapsed into existence at the point of observation from the lower dimension.

Well if the mind were to discover higher causes from the 2d muscle and sensory pattern flows. All the way up to the 4th dimension and maybe beyond. Then the act of inner 'observation' (polarization), as in the case of quantum reality, might also collapse the potential within the 4th dimensional 'space' of our own subconscious mind. Down to a 3d simulation of forms, which are merely 'sections' of 4th dimensional space. All the forms and behaviors comprising our thoughts may be wrapped up in those 4th dimensional components of higher 'causes'.

Consider an imaginary consciousness 'existing' within a single dimension of reality, and having only 'one dimensional thinking'. It would not understand 2d reality. Its mathematics might imply a theoretical 2 dimensions or more, and it might even contemplate a 2d reality as a 'many worlds' theory of its one dimension reality. Further, I suggest it would not even be capable of 'knowing' its very own single dimension. For to do so, it would need to 'step outside' of its 'line' of existence, into the 2nd dimension. Before it could 'see' the extent of that dimension.

For within a one dimensional world, the senses could witness little more than a point. Only stepping outside could it potentially 'see' the line that it is in. And only then, if it has a consciousness capable of seeing beyond its one dimensional world. More than just 'points'. A consciousness 'built' moreover, from only a tapestry of those one dimensional sensory 'points'.

My suspicion is that the human mind similarly builds a bridge, or a 'viewing' platform into the next spatial dimension up. In our case, into the fourth dimension. An impossible dimension we could never really 'know' (for presumably we'd need to build a further platform to the 5th spatial dimension in order to 'see' our platform in the 4th).

Anyway, once our mind has built this 4th dimension platform (from the cause and effect bindings of the muscle and sensory patterns), it can then 'step outside' of the 3 dimensional frame of reference, and actually 'see' into a 3d world that it is in. That is, it can 'polarize' the 3d reality into an observer perspective and the observed 3d world.

  • Now this may seem counter intuitive, because you might say, my eyes already 'see' a 3 dimensional world. But you may not have considered that you only 'see' a 2d bit map of information. What you are not taking account of, is what your mind is doing to those 2d pictures in order for you to 'see' a 3d world. - And that is partly what this site is about.

And similarly for a 2 dimensional consciousness living in a 2d reality (Like being 'trapped' inside a picture instead of a line). Sensory perception might be limited to 'lines' from 'within' the picture. If the consciousness has muscle to move, memory to store the patterns and the 'emotions' to care. Then over a lifetime it may have accumulated enough 'lines' into memory to make up the 'picture' in full. But it would need to step not left or right; nor backwards or forwards to see it. But step into an impossible, theoretical domain of 'the up' or 'the down'. Then lo and behold, the reality they are in comes into view. Becomes polarized into the observer (on the up platform) and the 2D world down below (the picture). And predictions of how to get from here to there become mysteriously intuitive.

When observed from the higher 3rd dimension, the lower 2D perception of 'lines' combine to create a full 2D image, And higher still, to 3d forms within that image. All of these potentials seemingly impossible to comprehend from the perspective of the lower dimensional 'consciousness'.

3D reality might then be understood as a 'many worlds' theory of 2D reality. Which in a way it is. But as we know, 3d reality is so much more than just many layers. It is a whole new paradigm of potential.

Perhaps this is why we contemplate the multi verse when extrapolating the physics of our own 3D universe. Because it is the most our minds are capable of imagining. Many layers of a 3D universe. Whereas it may be so much more. 1D and 2D are both components of our 3D reality. So, perhaps our reality is itself, a component of a higher 4D reality. One we cannot comprehend from our 4th dimensional (or lower) thinking.

And perhaps this is what the mind, using information patterns free from the constraints of 3d reality has discovered. After converting the 2D streams of our senses into a 3D reality of awareness. Perhaps it continues with the process - into the 4th dimension. Which is why we are able to predict the future and align actions toward emotional goals. Because within the 4th dimension, emotion collapses the pathways. Possible pasts and futures come into 'sight'. Thus we can catch a ball thrown to us.

Perhaps emotion itself is a 4th dimension phenomenon. A way the 4th dimension can signal guideposts to us living in the 3rd dimension. Helping us to 'see' through the complexity of 3D reality. Which is why it can never be understood from the 3rd dimension. The way 3d form is mysterious based only upon 2 dimensional thinking.

Perhaps, once the 2D sensorimotor patterns have built the 3d simulation, the framework is ready for 4th dimensional genetic patterns to influence behavior. Like when we discover female beauty by witnessing 2d sensory patterns of feminine form and behavior. A maturity arises within the mind where it is sufficiently programmed by the senses, that it is able to recognize the core 4th dimensional potential of femininity. With all its forms, perspectives, behaviors etc.

So perhaps there are some nascent or quasi fourth dimensional processes going on in the mind. Nothing to do with quantum effects, but simply through the organization of lower dimensional information patterns.

Just as 3d objects can drive the patterns within a 2 dimensional world. That seem to 'reach inside' the 2d world with an agenda outside of normal 2d paradigms. So too perhaps a 4th dimensional paradigm of emotion could 'reach inside' and drive the animation process within a 3D world.

Any 3d scene has trillions of potential progressions through time, but emotion seems to resolve or 'collapse' the scene toward many local maxima and minima. (What we consider to be good or bad 'emotional' outcomes).

And since 2d sensory patterns are as much components of our 3d reality as they might be components of a 4d reality, it is at least plausible that they could be used to construct simulations of both 3rd and 4th level dimensions within the mind.

Now mathematics talks about abstract space. A theoretical 3d space is a framework within which relationships between points can be reliably denoted by numbers and the rules by which numbers can relate.

But one question is this, does the 3d universe we inhabit disclose any evidence that higher spatial dimensions could exist? What would constitute such evidence? Perhaps quantum effects are exactly the type of effects one would expect from the existence of such higher dimensions.

Because quantum affects suggest a reality where all outcomes are tested simultaneously until a perception or an observation collapses the event to a conclusion. To a solution. The observing system seems to somehow reach into the 4th dimension (the multi verse) to collapse the event into a given third dimension 'layer'. This being similar to the processes I've suggested for within consciousness.

Where for mental events, 3D simulations could be collapsed, by reaching into 4th dimension patterns, to yield the most emotionally significant 3d forms and behaviors. And the mechanism for this collapse might be the polarization of the core 3d reality into the observer and observed perspective, which can then stream polarized channels into consciousness. As the 4th dimensional process of emotion causes the collapse of the simulation fields through what we describe as hope and fear.

And so perhaps emotion really is a 4th dimension phenomenon within information, just as quantum effects might be 4th dimension phenomenon within matter. Since we cannot explain either of these properties within our current understanding or paradigms of the 3 dimension universe that we think we know.
